How to learn words or expressions effectively
I believe you should be aware that it takes time to learn how to use words or expressions apart from those with specific memories. At first it is ok to realize what a specific word or expression vaguely means when you first initially see it. It is more effective to engage in learning each word or expression individually with a word book and learning its meaning in context. So, after all, it seems that you can learn how to use words and expressions more quickly when you memorize the entire sentence which contains the words or expressions. You can learn them more effectively by spending less time memorizing individual words or expressions by heart and instead taking your time to check their meanings in the context. You should choose the simple examples with easy expressions or structures except for the specific expressions you want to learn or you can make those examples with the specific expressions in them yourself.
You should be careful dealing with important words even when they look easy because they tend to have multiple meanings. For example, “help” does not only mean giving assistance but also avoiding or preventing. In addition, when it means preventing or avoiding it takes only gerunds as its objective when you are referring to activities. “Can’t help Ving” is a derivative example of this usage.
I will talk about what important word with multiple meanings you should pay attention to, next time!
