What is “active grammar”?
アクティブグラマーとは何だろう
Sを主語、Vを動詞、Mdを副詞表現とすると英文は、標準的に全てS-V-Mdの形で表現する事ができます。Mdは、動詞Vがどこで、いつ、どのように、なぜ、何のために行われるか等を説明するのですが、位置が比較的自由でMd-S-V, S-Md-Vという語順になることもあります。英語を話す時、最初に主語を考え次に動詞とそれがいつか、話し手のその動作に対する態度などが決められ、動詞によって細かい構造が決まり、Mdが決まるという順番です。active grammarではなるべくこの順番にそって説明がされるような章の順番になっています。大きな枠の 説明が先に来て、細かい説明に移ります。また前回のblogでも触れたように、日本語との違い、日本人が間違いやすい点が説明されています。英語を話すのには、このactive grammarをマスターし、あとは、単語を増やしてゆくだけです。

If you put a subject in S, a verb in V, an adverbial expression in Md, you can express any English sentence with a standard pattern of S-V-Md. Md explains where, when, how or why V is done. Its position is comparatively free and the word order can be either Md-S-V or S- Md-V. When you speak English, you first decide what the subject is and next decide which verb to use and the tense. Also you decide your attitude toward the action. The verb has its own specific structure and that determines how the Md should be.The chapters of Active Grammar are arranged in such a way that you can follow this sentence structure. First, I will explain general principles and then move on to more detailed points. As mentioned in the last blog, Active Grammar particularly tries to clarify the differences of the Japanese language from English and the mistakes Japanese people tend to make. In order to be able to speak English, you only have to master this Active Grammar point and then just enlarge your vocabulary.
